DPS & Front Cover first draft

This is my first draft of my article made in InDesign. I set up these two pages with three columns then placed my article text into it. The measurements that I used for the margins are the same measurements of one of the articles I deconstructed. This ensured that my measurements were realistic because it was an existing magazine. I learned that it is important to have margins because it makes sure the page isn't too cluttered.
I made text boxes where I wanted my article to go then I placed in my article in. I realised that it didn't all fit so I changed the text size and the leading which changes the spacing inbetween the lines, then all of the text fit.
I used the shape tool to make my breakout box and then I added a drop shadow but I didn't want it to  be too heavy and distracting. I will probably change the colour of the breakout box later on when I develop my DPS but for now  I just wanted to put it in so I knew everything fit.
I put in my header for the article and put a shape behind it and again put in a drop shadow. I tilted the text and the box behind because I want my layout to look like it breaks the rules and has energy.

This is my front cover so far. I have a yellow background because I am planning on having a yellow background for my photo shoot so I wanted to have an idea of how it would look with the correct colours and also so that I could see the white sell lines. I used the font 'Code Bold' because I think looks modern and has impact. I also used the font 'Bebas' which is even more bold and I used this for the masthead and changed the kerning so that it was closer together.
To make my main sell line the most prominent I put in a shape at the back of the text so that there was more contrast with the blocked out letters. I placed the masthead in the top left of the page and changed the kerning to make the letters closer together, I did this to save space for when my pictures are placed into the page.
For my other sell lines I started at the left and made all of the text left justified and made a colour system where the sell lines alternate colours. I put current pop stars/groups names at the bottom of the page and blocked the letters out and put them at an angle so that it works with the main sell line.
Using the shape tool, I made a button sell. I put the word 'WIN' in a larger font as it is a reward sell so I want it to be one of the main sell lines on my front cover.
